Shelton offers an extensive network of professional organizations, government programs and support services that businesses need to operate and prosper. Whether it’s the Shelton Economic Development Corporation and Commission, the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce or the Connecticut Economic Resource Center, businesses have access to a wide variety of resources. Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce
Established in 1964, the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce provides leadership for the business interest of six Naugatuck River Valley, Connecticut communities. The Chamber has about 600 members, which encompass a workforce of over 14,000 people. Its diverse membership representations manufacturing, retail, service and corporate businesses that range in size from sole proprietors to over 1,000 employees.
GVCC Mission:
     The Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce represents the Connecticut Business Community of Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby Oxford, Seymour, Shelton and the surrounding area. Connecticut Economic Resource Center (CERC)
The Connecticut Economic Resource Center (CERC) offers access to all state programs and information on local and regional programs. Initial contact is with Regional Account Managers who guide customers through the state system.
Programs include:
• Financing, including loans and loan guarantees
• Technology Assistance
• Site Selection Assistance
• State agency permitting, including environmental and labor
• International trade missions, trade shows, financing, and advisory services

The Alliance for Economic Growth

The Alliance for Economic Growth is a voluntary collaborative effort of the business and municipal leaders of the seven Naugatuck River Valley communities. It brings together commercial/industrial real estate, banking, state economic development agencies and municipal resources to help businesses grow. AEG Mission
     To bring new jobs and opportunities to the greater valley region by recommending, planning and implementing regional economic development activities, including employment and training initiatives, transportation, environment and conservation programs. Our work with the regional business and municipal leaders is directed by the chief elected officials of the participating communities of Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Naugatuck, Oxford, Seymour and Shelton.

Created by the Governor's Council on Economic Competitiveness and Technology, the You Belong in Connecticut web site is managed by the Department of Economic and Community Development. You Belong in Connecticut is the state's umbrella slogan for economic development outreach programs.
